Dr. Nancie Spector is a licensed child clinical psychologist with over thirty years of experience dedicated to helping children and their families thrive. Dr. Spector's passion lies in empowering parents with the tools and knowledge to support their children's emotional well-being and development. She understands the unique challenges families face and strives to create a nurturing and supportive environment where children feel safe to express themselves and learn coping skills. Dr. Spector's practice is rooted in a collaborative approach, where she partners with parents, children, and adolescents to develop personalized treatment plans that address their individual needs.

Dr. Spector's expertise encompasses a wide range of childhood challenges, including learning disabilities, autism spectrum disorders, anxiety and mood disorders, and issues related to loss and grief. She is intensively trained in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), a proven therapy approach that helps children, adolescents, and their families develop emotional regulation skills, enhance interpersonal relationships, and build resilience.

Her treatment specialties extend to addressing a variety of concerns that impact children and adolescents, such as ADHD, adoption issues, anxiety, Asperger's Syndrome, autism, behavioral challenges, bipolar disorder, coping skills deficits, mood disorders, parenting difficulties, peer relationship issues, school challenges (including bullying and educational transitions), stress management, and developmental disorders. In addition to her expertise in DBT, Dr. Spector utilizes various therapeutic modalities, including parent skills training, play therapy, family therapy, and psychodynamic therapy, tailoring her approach to meet the specific needs of each individual.

Facility Dog

Dr. Spector is truly committed to creating a welcoming and comfortable environment for her young patients. To achieve this, she is accompanied by Robert, a certified facility dog trained by Canine Companions for Independence. Robert's presence provides immense comfort to children and adults alike, helping to alleviate anxiety and create a sense of safety and security. He actively participates in sessions, offering a non-judgmental and empathetic presence, and often becomes a confidante for children who are comfortable sharing their worries and feelings with him.
