The Best Way Out is Always Through- Robert Frost
My name is Kevin Brock, and I am a licensed clinical psychologist dedicated to providing compassionate and effective mental health care. I understand that seeking therapy can be a significant step, and building a safe and trusting relationship with your therapist is paramount to the process. I strive to create a space where you feel comfortable sharing your thoughts and feelings openly, knowing you will be met with empathy and understanding. My therapeutic approach is integrative, drawing upon a variety of evidence-based methods, techniques, and philosophies. I believe that no single approach works for everyone, and I personalize my treatment based on your unique needs and goals.
Services Offered
My primary focus is on helping individuals navigate the complexities of trauma and PTSD. As a Certified EMDR therapist, I utilize Eye-Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy, a highly effective treatment for trauma-related disorders. EMDR helps to process and reframe traumatic memories, reducing their emotional impact and allowing individuals to move forward in their healing.
In addition to trauma and PTSD treatment, I offer therapy for a wide range of concerns, including depression, anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder, borderline personality disorder, relationship issues, addiction and recovery, grief and loss, work and career issues, low self-esteem, and personal growth.
I recognize that each individual's journey is unique. Whether you are seeking help with a specific diagnosis or are simply looking to enhance your well-being, I am here to support you on your path to healing and self-discovery.
Therapy Approaches
I utilize various therapeutic modalities, tailoring my approach to meet each client's individual needs. Some of the approaches I integrate into my practice include:
- Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT): DBT is a cognitive-behavioral therapy that teaches skills for managing emotions, improving interpersonal relationships, and developing distress tolerance. It is particularly helpful for individuals with borderline personality disorder, but can also be beneficial for those struggling with emotional regulation, self-harm, or suicidal thoughts.
- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT): CBT focuses on identifying and changing maladaptive thought patterns and behaviors that contribute to emotional distress. It is a structured and goal-oriented approach that has proven effective in treating a variety of mental health conditions.
- Interpersonal Therapy (IPT): IPT emphasizes the role of relationships in mental health and focuses on improving communication and interpersonal skills. It can be helpful for individuals experiencing depression, anxiety, or relationship difficulties.
Psychological Testing
In addition to therapy, I offer comprehensive psychological testing for a range of concerns. These assessments can provide valuable insights into your cognitive functioning, personality traits, and emotional well-being.
Testing may be helpful for:
- Adult Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) Testing: To determine if ADHD symptoms meet diagnostic criteria and to guide treatment recommendations.
- Intelligence Testing: To assess general intellectual abilities and identify strengths and weaknesses.
- Personality Testing: To gain a deeper understanding of your personality traits, coping styles, and potential areas for growth.
If you are considering psychological testing, please contact me to discuss your specific needs and concerns.
