Business Details
We have provided affordable, confidential psychiatric care from our private practice in Omaha since 1984, giving us almost four decades of experience. Our founder, Kay M. Shilling, M.D, is a Board Certified psychiatrist who completed four years of medical school and a four year psychiatry residency, with all training completed in Nebraska. We offer online, telehealth, and in person services with no Electronic Health Record and private, confidential medical records. Our practice welcomes self pay patients and we provide a Good Faith Estimate to predict costs, and we are always available to answer billing or insurance questions. We are trained in psychoanalytic psychotherapy as well as many other styles, and we can prescribe medications at the same appointment when needed. We have published scholastic research, including a medical journal article on Prescribing Principles of Psychotropic Medications, and we have established expertise both in practice and in research.

Our philosophy centers on teamwork, commitment to excellence, and a warm, inviting therapeutic environment where patients work toward self improvement. We treat a wide range of conditions across all ages, including depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety, schizophrenia, ADHD, OCD, grief, and seasonal affective disorder. We are the only area practice with a psychiatrist who took the original American Psychiatric Association course on seasonal affective disorder and has approved equipment for rental. We can often accommodate same day or immediate week appointments, and we maintain an emergency line for serious emergencies. We provide therapy and medication management at the same visit so patients do not need an additional therapist, or we can provide medication management in tandem with an existing counselor. We remain committed to flexibility, confidentiality, and patient centered care for the betterment of each person we serve.
