Maitri Psychological Services

Maitri Psychological Services, PLLC is a private psychological practice that specializes in forensic and clinical evaluation and treatment services. Our mission is to provide empirically validated psychological services grounded in integrity, balance, and professionalism. We strive to communicate dignity, respect, and compassion to those we serve.

Our services are based on the belief that the road to empowerment and growth involves personal responsibility, accountability, compassionate boundaries, empathy, and understanding. Maitri is a Sanskrit word that means "unconditional loving-kindness, " and we strive to embody this philosophy in our work.

Maitri Psychological Services, PLLC is located in Phoenix, Arizona and is headed by Holly Salisbury, Psy. D., a licensed psychologist in the state of Arizona since 2010. Dr. Salisbury has worked in the mental health field since 1999 and has extensive experience in settings including acute psychiatric hospitals, substance abuse detox facilities, State hospitals, community mental health, and clinical and forensic private practices.

Forensic Services

Forensic psychology can be broadly defined as clinical psychological services (consultation, evaluation, treatment) conducted with the aim of providing assistance to the judicial system. At Maitri Psychological Services, we provide forensic evaluations and consultation in the following areas:

• General psychological issues
• Psychosexual evaluation and treatment
• Sexually Violent Person (SVP) evaluation and treatment
• Mitigation assessment for sentencing
• Competency to Stand Trial evaluation
• Female offender issues
• Family violence and homicide evaluation and treatment
• Risk assessment
• Trauma assessment and treatment
• Forensically referred individual treatment (i.e. sexual issues, domestic violence issues)

Dr. Salisbury has specialized training and experience related to treatment and evaluation of individuals who have committed sexual offenses, issues pertaining to the Sexually Violent Person statute, education and treatment of family members of those who have committed sexual offenses, as well as the assessment and treatment of victims of sexual abuse. Additionally, Dr. Salisbury has training and experience in the understanding, assessment, and treatment of trauma including complex trauma issues, adult attachment issues, and Posttraumatic Stress Disorder.

Clinical Services

Clinical psychology can be broadly defined as the evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of psychological disorders, which often encompasses a holistic assessment of various factors involved in presenting issues. At Maitri Psychological Services, we provide clinical evaluations and treatment in the following areas:

• General psychological issues
• Individual psychological treatment
• Complex trauma
• Relational/attachment issues
• General psychological evaluation
• EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing)

EMDR is a form of psychotherapy that is particularly effective in treating trauma-related disorders. Dr. Salisbury has been trained in EMDR and utilizes this approach in her clinical work with clients.

Professional Experience

Dr. Salisbury has a wealth of experience in various settings, including acute psychiatric hospitals, substance abuse detox facilities, State hospitals, community mental health, and clinical and forensic private practices. She has trained at an APA accredited internship at the Arizona State Hospital and later completed an APPIC approved post-doctoral training program.

Dr. Salisbury practices in areas of clinical and forensic psychology. She has provided consultation and expert witness testimony in criminal, civil, and probation matters. She also conducts mitigation evaluations to assist the Court in consideration of relevant factors for sentencing.
