Empowering Individuals to Overcome Anxiety, Building Confident Lives

At our practice, we understand that seeking help can be a daunting experience. It takes courage to acknowledge that change is needed and to take the first step towards healing. As a psychiatrist with over 30 years of experience, I, Dr. Aisha Abbasi, have dedicated my career to helping individuals navigate the complexities of mental health.

As a licensed psychoanalyst, I specialize in psychoanalysis, psychotherapy, and consultations for clinicians who wish to discuss their work. My approach is rooted in empathy and compassion, recognizing that vulnerability is essential for growth. I believe that understanding the underlying causes of our suffering is crucial to achieving lasting change.

Clinical Services

I offer confidential and compassionate psychotherapy and psychoanalysis to residents in Oregon, Washington, California, Michigan, and Florida. My services include:

  • Psychoanalysis: A form of intensive talk therapy that aims to uncover the underlying causes of our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors.
  • Psychotherapy: A talk-based therapy that helps individuals address specific issues, such as anxiety, depression, or relationship conflicts.
  • Consultations for clinicians: I offer supervision and consultation services for healthcare professionals looking to discuss their own work or seek guidance on complex cases.

Speaking Engagements

As a respected expert in the field of psychoanalysis, I have had the privilege of speaking at local, national, and international conferences on topics related to psychotherapy, psychiatry, and mental health. My goal is to share my knowledge and expertise with others, promoting a deeper understanding of the human experience.

Publications

I am the author of two books, including "The Rupture of Serenity: External Intrusions and Psychoanalytic Technique, " as well as several articles in professional publications. My writing focuses on the intersection of psychoanalysis, culture, and society, aiming to shed light on the complexities of human experience.

Teaching & Supervising

In addition to my clinical practice, I have had the opportunity to teach and supervise at various institutions, including the Michigan Psychoanalytic Institute and the Columbia University Center for Psychoanalytic Training and Research.

Pro Bono Work

I am dedicated to giving back to my community. As the former Executive Director and Chair of the Board of Directors of the Mel Bornstein Clinic for Psychoanalysis and Psychotherapy, I have worked tirelessly to ensure access to affordable mental health services for those in need.
