The Suffolk Institute for Psychotherapy and Psychoanalysis (SIPP) has been in operation since 1989 as a postgraduate psychoanalytic training institute offering both one and four-year programs. In 2018, we became a Psychoanalytic Professional Learning Community, offering annual membership to New York State licensed professionals who are looking for camaraderie, professional stimulation, and a network of other professionals in the wider mental health community of the Greater New York area. Throughout the years, we have remained true to our guiding principles, which contribute to our unique psychoanalytic community. At the core of these principles is our commitment to a town hall democratic process of decision-making by membership, while including all disciplines in the mental health field. This approach has enabled us to maintain an internal environment that is experienced by its constituent members and the greater professional community as respectful, inclusive, and professionally fulfilling. We strive to provide an environment that encourages deep reflection along with extensive dialogue in all clinical and professional arenas. Our community relies on multiple voices to both shape and guide our decisions and direction.
