CPA Mission & Code of Ethics
Our mission is to foster the development and practice of psychotherapy that respects the dignity of the human person and the sacredness of human life. We are dedicated to the ethical integration of Catholic values and principles in psychotherapy, promoting the well-being of individuals, couples, families, and communities. Our commitment to these ideals is reflected in our recently published Ethics Code of the Catholic Psychotherapy Association, a guide that assists our members in maintaining the highest standards of ethical conduct in their professional lives.

The CPA is proud to have members from various ecclesial regions around the world, each contributing unique perspectives and expertise. Our dedicated Board of Directors, composed of experienced professionals, works tirelessly to ensure that the CPA remains true to its mission and values. They provide leadership, guidance, and oversight for the association, ensuring the continued growth and success of the CPA.
CPA Membership: Networking and More
Joining the CPA offers more than just a professional affiliation. Members enjoy numerous opportunities for networking, learning, encouragement, support, and prayer through our members-only Listserv, Special Interest Groups, Regional Networks, and Local Chapters. Members are also invited to contribute scholarly work and writing related to the mission of CPA through our Call for Programs (Continuing Education, Webinar, Conference) and Integratus Call for Submissions (Peer-reviewed Journal). Engaging in the CPA community allows members to grow both professionally and personally.
Membership Criteria (per CPA Bylaws)
Membership in the CPA is open to all individuals who demonstrate ongoing support for and fidelity to the teachings of the Catholic Church, as stated in the CPA Bylaws. As a community of professionals, students, and enthusiasts, we invite anyone interested in promoting the integration of Catholic values in psychotherapy to join us in our mission.
