Dr. Asher Lipner is a licensed clinical psychologist with over 20 years of experience in clinical practice. I work with individuals and couples confronting pornography addiction, compulsive sexual behaviors, betrayal trauma, and intimacy-related struggles. My practice includes supporting men pursuing recovery from unwanted sexual behaviors, partners coping with the effects of betrayal, and couples seeking to rebuild trust, honesty, and emotional closeness. I focus on guiding clients through complex behavioral and relational difficulties in a structured and supportive environment.

My therapeutic approach is grounded in evidence-based care combined with compassion, accountability, and respect for each client’s personal values and goals. I tailor treatment to each individual and may incorporate cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), trauma-informed care, attachment-based interventions, motivational interviewing, and mindfulness techniques. I also have extensive experience working with anxiety, depression, ADHD, relationship challenges, and faith-related concerns. I welcome clients from diverse backgrounds and maintain particular expertise serving members of the Orthodox Jewish community, ensuring that care remains consistent with each client’s beliefs and values.

Services
Individual Therapy supports clients working through compulsive sexual behaviors and challenges related to intimacy. Services are available via telehealth or in-person in the Central New Jersey area. We help individuals reduce addictive patterns, develop healthier coping skills, rebuild trust in relationships, and move toward more stable, honest, and fulfilling emotional and relational lives.
We support partners of individuals struggling with sex or porn addiction and infidelity through specialized therapy. Our approach combines structured individual and couples counseling in a clinically informed setting. We help clients navigate shock, anger, self-doubt, and loss of trust while rebuilding emotional stability. We support healing, stability, and informed next-step decision making.
Addiction is understood by us as an illness that both arises from and contributes to secrecy and emotional isolation. Through our group therapy for sex addiction and intimacy anorexia, we aim to help clients establish new pathways for connection with others. The therapeutic process includes sharing recovery experiences among individuals with comparable challenges. We also encourage ongoing contact between members outside of sessions to strengthen support, accountability, and the overall healing process.
Many men experience ongoing difficulty controlling pornography use and compulsive sexual behaviors despite sustained efforts to change. Internally, this often includes shame, secrecy, emotional distress, and a sense of isolation even when daily life appears functional. Our outpatient treatment in Jackson, NJ supports men seeking professional psychological care rather than informal accountability approaches. Treatment emphasizes identifying emotional and nervous system patterns, interrupting relapse cycles, and strengthening self-control and relationships.

I work with people struggling with porn and sex addictions who want help stopping them. Too many people are trying to heal from their addictions on their own. This is causing them to feel incredible loneliness and shame as they get caught up in a cycle. If the issues aren't addressed with outside help they can end up getting worse.

I started working with people struggling with porn or sex addictions because I saw so many people are stuck living a life in which they are desperately lonely as a result of their addiction. They don’t realize what's missing in their life because their secret addiction has masked the emptiness they feel and they no longer have the ability to fix the problems in their lives.
